I was reading another blog and she mentioned an orphan in Eastern Europe with Down Syndrome and how she wanted to help raise money for his adoption. She is a big name blogger and of course was able to raise quite a bit of money for him. His "forever family" is now in the process of adopting him. I clicked on the link and started to explore the Reece's Rainbow site.
What I learned is devastating. These beautiful children are placed in orphanages just because their society deems them as less as. I will admit they do have special needs, but here they would not be removed from loving parents and be placed in an orphanage because of that, there they are. Would you believe the baby house's are actually the "best" place these children will end up? When they reach a certain age they will be transferred to an institution where they may be drugged and given the absolute bare minimum to survive. Most of these children do not last a year in the institution. They languish in cribs and are not offered any love at all. No one comes to comfort them when they are crying. No one comes to love on them when they are sick. These children get NOTHING!!!
I know you are wondering where I am going with this. While at Reece's Rainbow http://www.reecesrainbow.org/ I was looking at the picture of the orphans and came across her:
Her name is Trina. Isn't she the cutest little girl. She suffers from FAS (Fetal Alcohol Syndrome) and has spasticity because of it, but she is doing well otherwise. She is growing and can get around well. I was so taken with her little smile and you can just she the light in her eyes. I wish I had more information to share on her but they really can't give out to much info due to privacy regulations. When she is adopted they will get more information about her and her specific needs. You can click on the badge on the right side of my blog to be to be taken directly to her page and learn more about her.Now to the meat of this post. We need to help her!!! We need to have as many people as possible see her and hear about what she faces. She WILL be transferred! She will suffer and she will be lost to the world. PLEASE!!! Help me save her. I am not saying you have to adopt her, but maybe someone out there is willing and able. Let us get the word out and help them see her. She also needs some donations to her fund. Her adoption will cost around $24,000 and every little bit helps. I also want to let it be known that if we do find someone to adopt her and they are able to adopt another child from her region the cost for the second child's adoption is greatly reduced about $28,000 for both of them, as long as they are adopted at the same time.
So now you know why my heart is breaking and how we can all help this BEAUTIFUL girl!!! Let's do it and help find her "forever family"!
I also want to thank Andrea and Michelle for all their help in learning about Trina and allowing me to become her warrior!
